I try to keep to the rule of "simple" with all the costing;

I work for an hourly rate or have packages.  My rates are based by the hour and it is surprising just how much can be achieved in a few hours. I CHARGE AN HOURLY RATE OF £14 IN THE PROVINCES AND £16 FOR LONDON WORK.  Census copies are supplied as part of the fee . Birth ,Death and Marriage certificates are £12. This is a very affordable way of keeping an eye on the costs and quite a lot of my clients prefer this method. You can stop when you want and quite often i have old customers coming back to me for their next phase of work. 

FULL FAMILY HISTORY PACKAGES;  These are available and are priced the same as the GENEALOGY GIFT VOUCHERS  ( included in price are 2 Birth or Marriage Certificates). The packages can include your photographs to enhance the report. Presentation folders can be purchased £20. See "Gift Vouchers" for costings

WEBSITE CREATOR; A WEB SITE FOR ALL THE FAMILY TO SHARE CAN BE CREATED FROM THE "ANCESTRAL" AND " PEDIGREE" PACKAGES. £150. PHOTOGRAPHS INCLUDED

PRESENTATION FOLDERS; £20 EACH, PADDED, GREEN,EMBOSSED WITH GOLD LETTERING

BIRTH /DEATH /MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES ; £12

WILLS;  £10

CENSUS; Copies supplied free whilst doing research.

OTHER COPIES OF DOCUMENTS; Copies are supplied at cost price, normally 50 pence. Any  exceptional priced documents for instance if a client wanted a surgeons report for a convict ship , this could be 20 pages ,then I would always advise first the pricing and see if the client wanted it.

HOW DO I PAY?  Sterling Cheques or Bankers Drafts or via Credit Card with PAYPAL

WHEN DO I PAY?  For all work there is an element of trust on both sides For all the General Family History Research ,working on an Hourly Rate i do not require money up front  initially, until the work gets going. I will require payment after the first set of agreed work. My policy is never to let costs go above what is agreed. This works well. I don't believe in wild goose chases , if I feel a research clearly isn't going to go anywhere I would say, as I really enjoy doing this and getting results. For Ancestral Reseach packages I require Half the Payment initially and the rest on completion.

With all Genealogy Research work ,none of us can guarantee that it wont dry up sooner than expected, but generally I do have a good idea how it will pan out, Knowing what records are available. However,refunds are given with due respect to the work carried out and in a very fair manner for both sides.
